Star Party

Star Party

Come find the perfect stargazing spot at the American West Heritage Center during the annual Star Party on Friday, August 12.  Take a train or wagon ride, go on a treasure hunt, play games, make a craft, and learn about history while watching the skies closely for the Perseids meteor shower.  The event is open 7:00-11:00 p.m., last ticket sold at 10:00 p.m.  Festival admission is $6 for everyone ages 3+.  Bring a telescope to share and receive free festival admission!

Star Party visitors will enjoy a summer evening with train rides, pony rides (7-9 p.m.), a starry navigation treasure hunt, and a chance to see the American West gunfighters stage a robbery under cover of darkness.  Keep an eye out for the glow-in-the-dark horse-drawn wagon making its rounds from 7:00-10:00 p.m.  Laura Swift Lind of the Starhouse Discovery Centerwill be giving a Stellarium presentation in the Livery Stable every hour starting at 7:30 p.m.  She will be discussing what a meteor shower is and how to find the Perseids.  Don’t forget to stop in at the Opera House for the first ever Star Carnival, where there will be crafts, treats, and games.
