Youth Conferences

The American West Heritage Center is a popular place for Youth Conferences. Why? Because we offer a lovely campsite at Camp Rendezvous, exciting hands-on activities designed to connect youth to their heritage, amazing scenery and a sense of isolation in nature, and friendly and helpful staff to make sure your Youth Conference is the best youth-building experience it can be.

It’s the perfect place to explore heritage, discover self, and strengthen youth.

Camp Rendezvous is open for reservations for most of the summer, and there is plenty of room for whatever size of group you bring. We can provide many learning opportunities, including a PAST-PORT to Daily Adventures, which is our signature living history program, featuring our 1917 farm, pioneer settlement,  mountain man fur trade camp, Shoshone Indian encampment, Woodwright Shop and more. You can earn the coveted “Heritage Award” by visiting these venues and completing the interactive question and answer portions of your PAST-PORT with our living history interpreters.

For youth conference participants, AWHC staff can engage them in our very own pioneer-themed teambuilding course (Peter Maughan Teamwork Course), conduct special workshops, put on a lively folk dance, and much more.  Or, we can leave you alone to do what you do best: strengthen young people. Most Youth Conferences that stay here do a bit of both. At the American West Heritage Center, a nonprofit organization, we can provide as much or as little programming as you want.

In each of our campsites we have a program box which contains all the items needed to play a host of frontier games such as Horseshoes, Old Sow, Indian Bowling, Cowboy Ratchet and more. This box also contains materials and instructions for team/group-building activities to make the very best use of your time.

Our Youth Conference area at Camp Rendezvous also boasts a nature trail, access to Daily Adventures, flush toilets, clean water, tables, chairs, shelter, and plenty of space for camping, games, activities, and more. We have tipis for campers or for use as a headquarters, a natural amphitheater, and the loveliest view of the Wellsville Mountains in northern Utah.

With so many other attractions in our area, Camp Rendezvous often becomes a hub where groups stay, but then go to the theater or opera at night, enjoy Summerfest in Logan (mid June), hike, fish, climb, or gallery walk. Logan, with its surrounding communities in Cache Valley, is a wonderful place with lots to do.
