Summer Camps 2011
The American West Heritage Center looks forward to summer camp every year! Our exciting summer camps give incoming 1st through 6th graders a historic summer experience they will not forget. Both four-day and one-day camps offer learning experiences with farm animals, hand carts, tepees, and much more!
Summer 2011 Camps
- Adventures Camp/Dias de Aventuras: 4-day camp/4 dias| This new camp is for students who are learning English as another language. Travel back in time to learn what kids on the frontier did for fun and adventure! Read exciting books, keep an expedition journal, and learn new skills that will help you on your journey. Scholarships and transportation available. Este nuevo campamento es para estudiantes que estan trabajando para fortalecer sus habilidades de lenguaje ingles (y que ingresan a los grados 3-6). Viaje en el tiempo para aprender lo que los ninos en la frontera hizo para diversion y la aventura! Leer libros interesantes, mantener un diario de la expedicion, y aprender nuevas habilidades que le ayudaran en su viaje. Becas y transportacion estan disponibles.
- Life on the Farm: 4-day camp, $69| Farms in 1917 were places of work and play. Campers will gather eggs and feed the chickens, learn how to milk the cow, prepare yummy treats, make crafts, play games, and ride the ponies and train.
- Art in the Barn!: 4-day camp, $69| Art camp returns! Experiment with new art techniques, learn how to connect nature with art, and participate in a Barn Gallery Show.
- Little House in the Valley: 4-day camp, $69| You’ve read the Laura Ingalls Wilder books; now you can experience life as a pioneer! Go on a handcart trek, play games, cook over an open fire, and make crafts.
- Mountain Explorers: 1-day camp, $19| Campers will learn how fur trappers and trader, Native American groups, and explorers such as Lewis and Clark adventured through the West.
- Animal Camp: 1-day camp, $19| Animals are our most popular attraction here at the AWHC, so we now offer a day-long camp for campers to learn how to care for and interact with farm animals.
